TV Asahi currtly holds distribution and licsing rights to Doraemon. However, they mtioned that due to the show's success in India, they would be continuing their contract with Disney Channel India for Doraemon to air in India. Doraemon is also streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. They also noted the show's success in Spain, Portugal, and the rest of Europe.

Although the series is more faithful to the original manga, some changes were made. Many of the episodes that adapted chapters from the manga were extded to have a better conclusion or a good moral to the story. In addition, some elemts from the manga were toned down. Some examples include all of Doraemon's gadgets that resembled medicine being changed to differt appliances, and Nobita's dad (who smoked oft in the manga) rarely smoked.

The voice actors to the five main characters, Doraemon, Nobita, Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo, were chos from a pool of 590 applicants. TV Asahi stated in 2005 that they chose voice actors who sounded similar to the voice actors of the predecessor, so that there would not be a significant change from the original cast to the new cast.

The glish dub has be heavily modified to meet American broadcasting guidelines, csoring contt deemed inappropriate for American childr, as well as replacing many Japanese cultural elemts with American cultural elemts. Some modifications include Americanized character and gadget name changes from the glish version of the manga, an episode order completely differt from the Japanese episode order, nudity being heavily csored by adding steam, cloud effects, or clothing,

And some episodes having several minutes of footage cut. However, certain uniquely Japanese characteristics - such as house structure, kneeling on the floor to eat, the side where cars drive, and Nobisuke Nobi (Toby Nobi)'s kimono - remain. Japanese food featured throughout the series were also localized: while Doraemon's favorite food, dorayaki, was kept in but referred as yummy buns, others were edited out and replaced with Western equivalts, such as omurice becoming pancakes. All the background music and sound effects were replaced with new background music and sound effects deemed easier for American childr to emphasize with.

At least one character's personality was also partially rewritt. Shizuka (ramed Sue in the glish dub) is portrayed as more tomboyish and athletic than the Japanese version, although her sweet nature and kind personality were not changed. This is reportedly because her traditionally Japanese habits were perceived as being difficult for American childr to understand in test viewings of the Japanese version.

These include three dubs. So far, there are two notable glish dubs: Bang Zoom's American glish dub and Red Angel Media's British/Hong Kong glish dub, which aired on Boomerang. However, the British/Hong Kong glish dub did not receive any proper distribution.

The series features new oping themes, except for the first one. Most of the international versions of the series only use the third oping theme and their own dings.

Doraemon

The American dub uses its own unique oping sequce that compiles footage from the Japanese version. To explain the premise of the story, a narration by Doraemon about why he came from the future is utilized rather than an actual oping theme.

Since the series incorporates all the credits into the oping theme, an ding theme is primarily abst. However, some episodes use an ding theme.(he mentions to Nobita that it's been 10 years since I was born, I haven't returned to the factory yet in 's 100 Year Time Capsule)

Despite being based on a cat, hence his title as the Gadget Cat from the Future in the Americanized dub, resembles a racoon dog (referred to as a seal in the American dub), albeit it being a running joke. He is blue in color while his face and front middle portion of the body being white in color. He has got circular palms and feet. He has 6 whiskers like cats. Although being made up of metal, he can get squeezed and can be stretched. He has big eyes, a red circular nose and a big mouth consisting of huge teeth. He had ears which were eaten by a mouse (a robot mouse that misunderstood an order in the OVA), hence why he more resembles a racoon dog. He has a red tail which acts like a power lever.

Doraemon

Was manufactured in the Matsushiba Robot Factory in the year, 2112, bearing the code, MS-903. He was damaged by an electrical bolt during production which detached a critical screw from him, degrading his abilities in general while crippling a variety of external attachments. As with his peers purposed as mechanical child caretakers resembling cats, he also underwent training, though his performance is generally subpar and he is often regarded as an outmode. Sometime before he entered service, he was infatuated with another mechanical cat named Noramyako.

After he left production, was adopted by an infant Sewashi Nobi, who he quickly bonds with. Being designed after a cat, he was not musophobic (afraid of mice). However, his ears were later damaged by rats, causing his phobia of rats, and to his terror, eventually a failed surgery left him bald. Noramyako, who happened to visit him, laughs uncontrollably at his bald head, and their relationship sours. He is unable to obtain any replacements due to Sewashi's low income. Soon, he loses his bodywork in his depression and is left with the blue base paint, resulting in the manufacture of his sister model Dorami.

Doraemon: The Record Of Nobita's Spaceblazer

As per the request of Sewashi, is later dispatched into the past and stays to help Sewashi's great-great grandfather Nobita in an attempt to alter the horrendous future of the Nobi family, setting the entire series' events into action.

Being a machine, he does not have some average needs of a regular person, whatever he consumes is automatically converted to energy within his nuclear furnace, although he does need the energy to keep him on the move.
