Smart Water Bottle Animals

    I chose the SmartWater design because I believe it catches the publics attention in a way that separates it from other water bottle companies. Why do I chose SmartWater over Disani or Ozarka? Is it because it tastes better? Not necessarily Is it cheaper? No…

    I chose it because the design grabs my attention and makes me think and feel like I am about to drink the purest, cleanest water available (regardless if that is actually the case).

    I noticed the intriguing shapes and contours that make up the logo and brand. What first drew my attention was the discrete little catch phrase you can find on the inside of the bottle with an animal graphic- artistically stylized or realistic (like the one you see with the fish). After doing the gradient mesh assignment, I noticed you could make this animal with the pen tool, gradient mesh feature,  adjusting the opacity of the difference colors. The fish is the most realistic of the animals I have seen on the inside of the packaging. The less realistic owl that can be found on the inside of the label is made clearly from Illustrator just by using different shapes and colors. The teardrop looking shape that makes up the blue logo is used with the pen tool and the cloud could even be made with the pen tool plus different opacity settings with a vertical text placed on top.

    I also visited the website and the graphic elements we see on the bottles are carried out in the website design as well. The small widgets we see on the left hand side of the page could be made using illustrator and the different shapes and/or the pen tool.

    The design elements used in this whole brand identity are shape, direction, and color. The organic teardrop shape associated with the SmartWater makes it look sophisticated yet also simple. The direction is vertical seeing as the text “SmartWater” is typed vertically to conform to the tall, cylinder shape of the bottle. I think this is very appealing because and attracts many people because not many  other bottled water is 1. shaped like a SmartWater bottle or 2. willing to take the risk of a vertical text. The blue and white color palette adds to the fresh, water feel of the whole identity.
