Animals are the avatars that represent Jammers in Play Wild. There are a variety of animals for all Jammers. Member Jammers can create and store up to 1, 000 animal avatars and you can switch between them.

New animal avatars can be purchased through the Switch Animals menu by clicking on the Add Animal button, or through the Sapphire Shop. When creating an animal, Jammers must choose a name that consists of three parts. This name can be changed again at a later date for 5 Sapphires. Most Animals cost 150 Sapphires except four; Bunny, Wolf, Fox and Monkey which cost 3, 000 Gems for the first animal and increase by 3, 000 Gems thereafter.

Animals aren’t always available. Many return and leave seasonally, while others leave for long periods of time. Some animals, like the Wolf, Bunny, and Monkey, always remain available, as they are default options. Sometimes animals will Go Traveling, meaning they are on a special quest of some sort and will return to Jamaa with news. You cannot purchase an animal while it is traveling.

Jammers can also recycle existing animals in storage by clicking the recycle symbol in the Switch Animals menu and then clicking on the animal to recycle. Recycled Gem animals will return 900 Gems and recycled Sapphire Animals with return 7, 500 Gems. Recycled Animals that are no longer available cannot be recreated.

When creating a new name, players can name their animal with a first name, middle name, and last name. The only exception is any Animal bought through bundles. Animal names can be changed any time after purchase for 5 Sapphires.

Animal Jam: The Series

Every animal can be customized through the Change Your Look menu. Animals have a primary color and a secondary color as well as a variety of eye shapes and Patterns to choose from. The primary and second color palette has 64 colors to choose from, the pattern palette has 39 colors and the eye palette has 26 colors. Some colors are only exclusive to some Animals. Members can use the Color Coordinator tool, which shows you the colors of the items your animal is wearing. Jammers who are in a pack have access to the Color Cloud which includes exclusive colors not obtainable on any of the color menus.

Beyond changing the animal itself, Jammers can also customize their animals by adding clothing accessories. Animals can wear six pieces of clothing for their head, face, neck, body, legs, and tail items.

In addition to the color palette, there are also 4 secret colors your animal can have. You can use the color anywhere(main color, eyes, patterns, etc).) Icy Blue: Tap the top color of the inner circle of the color palette 3 times. Magenta: Tap every color in the inner circle clockwise starting and ending with the top color. Phantom Purple: Tap the dark purple color of the outer circle twice, then white twice. Forest Green: Tap every color in the inner circle clockwise starting and ending with the top color.

Flying animals were first introduced on January 2, 2019; like land animals, they can only be used in the land areas, but flying animals appear above all the other land animals. On May 1, 2019, Flying animals can either stay at ground level or fly up higher via a button in the action menu but this button is blacked out for land animals.
