The Change Your Look menu is a feature of Play Wild that allows Jammers to customize their animal avatar. This feature has been a key element of the game since Beta Testing, but it has changed many times since it was first introduced. It can be accessed by clicking the small picture of the animal avatar in the bottom left of the screen.

The bottom of the menu is dedicated to the clothing inventory. Clicking on any clothing item causes the current animal to wear it and changes the item background to a blue color to show that it is being used. The clothing inventory can be sorted by which part of the body the clothing item is worn on (such as Head, Face, Neck, Back, Legs, or Tail), by Item to group similar items together, by All (which is the default) to sort the most recently obtained items first. Also, the clothing inventory can be searched to list only the items that include the search term in their name. There is also a recycle button (next to the search button) that opens up a window for recycling clothing. Jammers can buy new clothing by clicking the Shop button, which will open the Jam Mart Clothing or the Sapphire Shop window. Jammer can also save outfits they wear by clicking the Outfit button and clicking save.

The preview panel is viewed by clicking the magnify glass button and it allows Jammers to see a close-up view of their animal avatar while they are changing clothing or colors. When the current animal is wearing clothing, a button will appear (similar to the Clear Den button when putting away den items) that will put away all worn clothing items.

The colors panel is divided up into three panels that share the same space: the Change Colors panel, the Change Eyes panel, and the Change Patterns panel. The default panel is the Change Colors one and it consists of two color palettes with 64 colors each; the top palette controls the animal's main color and the bottom one controls the secondary color. When a color is selected, the edges of that color will be highlighted in black. The Change Eyes panel includes another palette of 26 colors on the bottom and arrows at the top to select the shape of eye for the animal. The Change Patterns panel includes another palette of 39 colors on the bottom and arrows at the top to select the shape of pattern for the animal.

Some colors are only exclusive to some Animals. Animal Jam Members who are in a pack have access to the Color Cloud which includes exclusive colors not obtainable on any of the color menus. Members also have access to the Color Coordinator which allows them to change their colors to match the items they are wearing.

Next to the Animal Icon there is a Pet Icon which allows Jammers to access their inventory of existing pets, buy new pets, recycle unwanted pets, visit the Claws 'N Paws, and customize Pets. Jammers can access and use collected potions through this menu. Jammers can also rotate their animal to be viewed from different angles.
