K-Books is another anime and manga store that is located in Akihabara. Compared to Animate, the store sells more manga than merchandise, however they do still have a good collection of anime merchandise! The store is located in ‘Radio Kaikan’ which is a shopping center full of anime and manga stores. K-Books have other stores around Tokyo but this is the main store, meaning they have the widest selection of anime goods!
A big reason why I love K-Books is the price point. They sell the goods for a fairly good price compared to other anime and manga stores. So if you’re shopping on a budget but looking for some good quality anime and manga merchandise then K-Books is the place to go!
Although this is technically not an anime merchandise shop, I wanted to include it on the list as it is actually a great place to get your hands on some unique anime merchandise! A ‘gatchapon’ is a popular machine in Japan that allows you to put a small amount of money in, in exchange for a prize. All though all the prizes on offer are on the front of each machine, the catch is that you’re not sure which you’re going to get. This is a fun thing to do, especially when it comes to anime as you’re not sure which character’s goods you’re going to get as a prize which adds a bit of excitement, especially if you get the character you wanted! If you don’t get the one you want, you can always trade with your friends OR sell it at the anime stores nearby!
