On the Western planet, ancient culture is experiencing a renaissance after a long period of war. Jeanne Kaguya D’Arc, a girl from the Western Planet, was prophesied to be the Savior of the World at her birth. With Leonard Da Vinci, she lands on the Eastern Planet, where Nobunaga the Fool longs for the power to change the world, as his planet is still locked in a war where many heroes vie for supremacy. Adegan pertama dibuka dengan tragedi Honnoji dimana sang tiran Nobunaga Oda dan ajudan setianya, Ranmaru Mori menemui ajalnya. Oda yang merasa ambisinya untuk menjadi penguasa dunia harus berakhir kemudian berkata kepada Ranmaru bahwa di kehidupan berikutnya mereka akan bertemu lagi. Di saat bersamaan nun jauh di tanah Prancis, jendral wanita muda Joanna D'Arc harus menemui ajalnya ketika dieksekusi di depan umum.

Di Planet Timur, Oda Nobunaga terbangun karena dibangunkan sahabatnya Mitsuhide Akechi. Mimpi tentang seseorang bernama yang sama dengan Oda mati terbakar dalam sebuah kuil membuat Akechi cemah, namun berbeda dengan Oda yang semakin penasaran dengan wanita yang ia temui dalam mimpinya.
Hideyoshi kemudian datang dan memberitahukan Oda dan Akechi bahwa ada karavan yang membawa makanan dan uang yang banyak berjalan melewati mereka. Oda yang mengetahui karavan tersebut adalah milik tentara Takeda yang hendak menyerang daerah klan Oda memutuskan menuju benteng untuk memperingatkan yang ada disana.
Namun karena reputasi buruknya (bahkan hingga mendapatkan julukan 'Si Bodoh') tidak ada yang mendengarkan peringatan dari Oda. Serangan tentara Takeda dilancarkan dan ketiga sahabat tersebut hanya bisa memandang benteng dan tentara klan Oda dibantai oleh War Mobile milik Takeda.

Di Planet Barat, Jeanne Kaguya D'Arc yang sedari lahir selalu bermimpi bertemu dengan seseorang yang menyuruhnya untuk menemukan sang raja penyelamat bagi kedua planet menarik minat Leonardo Da Vinci, yang menyatakan dirinya sebagai 'sang pengamat dunia' untuk membawa sang gadis muda ke Planet Timur.
Mengendarai kapal luar angkasa milik Laksamana Magellan, da Vinci dan Jeanne 'menumpang' sampai perbatasan planet Timur sebelum akhirnya memutuskan untuk kabur sembari mencuri sebuah War Mobile.
Di tanah bekas pembantaian tentara Takeda, Nobunaga Oda, Akechi Mitsuhide dan Hideyoshi Toyotomi bersumpah bahwa mereka akan menyatukan dunia hingga peperangan tidak lagi dibutuhkan. Tidak berapa lama shuttle podyang ditumpangi da Vinci dan Jeanne jatuh di dekat mereka. Nobunaga yang penasaran bergegas menuju bekas jatuh.

Disana Nobunaga bertemu dengan Jeanne yang berada di dekat sebuah War Mobile (mecha). Dan ternyata banyak unit dari kapal Magella yang mengejar mereka, Nobunaga pun memaksa untuk menggunakan unit yang menurut sistemnya hanya bisa digunakan oleh 'Sang Raja Penyelamat'.
Ahli waris resmi dari negara Owari di Planet Timur ini merupakan karakter adaptasi dari karakter sejarah bernama sama. Oda juga sama-sama mendapatkan julukan sebagai 'Si Bodoh' karena suka bertindak seenaknya dan dianggap suka melakukan tindakan yang mempermalukan nama klan Oda.
Jeanne yang dibesarkan di daerah Donremi dari Planet Barat ini semenjak kecil selalu mendapatkan 'pandangan' dan 'bisikan' untuk menemukan Star Messiah (Sang Raja Penyelamat). Karena kemampuannya tersebut ia mau diajak Leonardo da Vinci untuk berpetualang ke Planet Timur. Disanalah Jeanne pertama kali bertemu dengan Nobunaga.

Adaptasi dari drama Jepang terkenal ini pada pandangan pertama terlihat menarik karena menggabungkan unsur perang antar mechadengan karakter-karakter sejarah dari dunia barat dan dunia timur. Once upon a time, there were two planets called the Western Star and the Eastern Star. The two sides were bound by the Dragon Vein spanning the heavs. The civilization that once had prospered has now turned to a tale of dreams, as the inextinguishable flames of war tear the realm asunder. The two planets remain gulfed in dless battles. The return of the super technology known as Sacred Treasures could revolutionize the world order, but no one knows of them but one person—a heretical girl. A girl from the Western Star, Joan Kaguya d'Arc, saw divine revelations of the birth of a Savior King who will save the world. She embarks on a journey to the Eastern Star with Leonardo Da Vinci, the one who observes the world. They come across the heretic of the Eastern Star and the greatest fool of the day, Nobunaga Oda.
Nobunaga is the main character and a member of the Oda Clan in the Eastern Star. He is usually tak as a fool for his brash and impulsive behavior, thus both his father and the court claim that his brother Nobukatsu would be a better successor to his father. He obtains powerful Giant Battle Armor from Da Vinci, naming it The Fool in homage to his reputation. He is prophesied by Joan to be the Savior King that will unite both the Western and Eastern Stars.

He chooses to become the Destroyer King and faces and is killed by his retainer Mitsuhide. However, against all prognostic, what he destroys is not the creation itself, but the power of destruction instead, and becomes the avatar of chaos. Before dying, he declares his love for Joan, and vow to counter each other in their next lives.
Joan is introduced as a woman ostracized from the village Domrémy who is guided by divine revelations of an ominous future for the Western Star. She meets Da Vinci and joins him in his journey to the Eastern Star, where she meets Nobunaga and disguises herself as a male retainer called Ranmaru Mori to fight by his side. She possesses the Sacred Treasure of Absolute Purity, one of five powerful amulets that can empower a Giant Battle Armor. She frequtly has doubts as to Nobunaga being the Savior King, claiming she will never understand him. Evtually, she receives her own Giant Battle Armor from Da Vinci, naming it Orléans.
She appears to be developing slight feelings for Nobunaga, as evidced by her jealousy during the betrothal ceremony betwe Nobunaga and Himiko. She admitted her love for him later on while conversing with Himiko. She is fatally injured during the final fight and remains with Nobunaga, ev after he becomes the King of Destruction, until both die, while declaring their love for each other and vowing to meet in their next lives.

Mitsuhide is one of Nobunaga's retainers who is extremely calm and collected. He is Nobunaga's chief political advisor and the master of the Oda Clan's shinobi forces. A kind man despite his quiet demeanor, he reluctantly assassinated Nobukatsu in order to sure that Nobunaga succeeds the clan. He seems to have feelings for Ichihime, evidced by the fact that he felt shocked wh Caesar proposed to her.
He is brainwashed by Arthur, and comes to believe that Nobunaga is the King of Destruction and tries to kill him in order
