Anime Another Genre

What seems like an exciting new year for class 3-3 of Yomiyama North Middle School turns into a nightmare as the main character, Kouichi Sakakibara, transfers in. Sensing an atmosphere of fear when he enters the class, he begins to talk to the girl with the unsettling eye patch who always sits alone. A girl that he meets in a hospital morgue, holding a ball-joint doll. A girl whose existence everyone in the class denies. A girl named Misaki Mei. PG alert: this anime consists of some rather brutal and graphic death scenes, although these are not revealed until later in the series.

“Dolls are hollow, you see? Completely hollow in body and soul. That void connects them with death.  But hollow things seek to fill their emptiness.” – Misaki Mei

Anime

Does a good job pacing its storyline so that the audience is able to absorb what is happening… slowly, while the suspense continues to build. Rather than just packing in death scenes and piling up corpses, the series places emphasis on the different characters’ interactions, allowing the audience to savour how the key characters develop and change over the course of the unfolding tragedy.

Is also a cracking mystery story. This show does a fantastic job of setting the entire plot up with clearly observable clues in every episode, and yet keeps the audience guessing as to which character is next to go. The mix of clues and red herrings engage the audience, making us think harder to unravel the truth. (Spoiler: A stinky red herring would be the similarity between the family name that Misaki Mei and Misaki Yomiyama, the student who initiated the curse, share). Although this series doesn’t answer everything by the end, the closure does a good job of wrapping up the story neatly — considering the genre’s inherent limitations.

‘s biggest flaw is its sudden and abrupt end. This is understandable since anime series generally last only a mere 12 episodes (one season) which unfortunately isn’t sufficient for them to develop each and every character properly, nor does it allow for the plot to be fully summed up. In addition, it tries a little too hard to make the deaths as violent, yet accidental as possible, which results in some scenes going over-the-top, and some characters dying rather gratuitously.Another – AnimeReview! Grade Class 3-3, something that his class wasn’t too keen on sharing with him or perhaps were too afraid to tell him. When visiting the hospital, he meets a strange yet beautiful girl named Mei Misaki and is immediately drawn to her mysterious aura, but for some reason he is the only one aware of her presence.

When his fellow classmates start to suddenly die one-by-one, they have no choice but to tell him about the curse of Class 3-3 and the “Calamity” that happens every year resulting in the death of either a student or family member each month until the semester ends. As the number of students in Class 3-3 dwindles, they try anxiously to find a way to stop the Calamity, but is there a way? Will they find it in time?

First off I want to apologize for my long absence as I have been pretty busy and have been waiting for several anime series to end before writing reviews on them. This anime in particular ended yesterday and the subs came out today.

Top 5 Reasons Why The Another Anime Is Peak Horror

This anime was absolutely amazing and is definitely going into my top favorites list. “Another” is an anime shrouded in mystery and every episode leaves you with question after question and just when you think you understand what’s going on, you find out you’re not even close. This is what a horror/mystery anime is supposed to be like and I kept wanting more. It was an anime that was both complex and had an abundance of depth, which you rarely find in anime’s these days. It was honestly hard to wait for the next episode to come out every week as each episode ends with the most epic of cliff-hangers.

The Animation for “Another” was brilliantly and beautifully done with a lot of detail that fully depicts the frightening and desolate atmosphere. All the characters in the anime were all pretty likeable (in the beginning) and each has pretty much their own personalities considering they are your typical anime high school students. The two main characters, Koichi and Mei’s relationship was the most interesting as their relationship deepened as the series progressed. My advice to you is to not get attached to any of the characters in the anime and I’ll leave it at that. The plot was steady and continued at a good pace, nothing was left out and everything was eventually explained.

It’s hard to say anything more about the anime without spoiling anything. So I’ll leave it to you to watch and see its brilliance for yourselves. Anime’s like this don’t come very often, so I urge you to watch it as I HIGHLY recommend it. Keep in mind though that there is quite a bit of blood and death, so if you have a weak stomach you might wanna be a little cautious. There will be no second season to this anime and there won’t be one as far I know, but I would definitely look forward to seeing more like this and will be following the creators for any updates. It is a bit rare for an anime in a horror genre to create that eerie and terrifying feeling I get from live-action movies or tv series. I didn’t get that intense level of horror in Another, but for an anime series, it did pretty well. Beware though, I’m not sure if can review this without spoilers. Hahaha!

A Completely Genuine Defense Of Another, Episode 6

The story is about Sakakibara Koichi, a transfer student from Tokyo who finds his new home in a small village. He meets Misaki Mei, a classmate only he can see. From then on he tries to find out about the secrets surrounding her existence (or nonexistence) and the mysterious events that happen as the story develops.

I wasn’t sure at first if this anime was placed under the wrong genre along with all the other weird horror anime out there. The first episode didn’t quite convince me yet. But as I continued on with the following episodes, I found something gripping and I wanted to find out more. The slow but wise progression of the story is what made it really interesting and fun to watch. The feeling it gives the audience somehow reminds me of Final Destination where the evil inevitable incidents happen in bizarre situations. Oops, was that a spoiler? No, don’t worry it’s not… I think.

The contrast of the background and the characters is really effective in giving a bit of a shock factor. They drew these really cute characters over a fairly gloomy environment telling you that something not so nice is going to happen. Then later in the show, you’ll just love to see what will become of them.

Another Is Stylistically One Of The Best Horror Anime

The same goes with the background music and sound effects. They did a good job with that. I didn’t particularly like the opening and ending songs. They’re just hmmm… okay. But the visuals that come with the opening song are nice - with the dolls and all those creepy stuff. I just wish the songs had more of a ghostly but catchy quality to them like the ones used in Jigoku Shoujo or Monster.

All in all, I think the show was cleverly made with all those side stories that contribute in building up the thrill in story. There were questionable elements leading to the end but they’re just minor things I can let go of.

Another

I give Another an 8/10 score for being surprisingly thrilling. It’s definitely something I’d definitely recommend to my weird and gore-loving friends.
