Hi Friends! Oink, Moo, and Cock-a-Doodle Doo! I’m excited to celebrate with you! I’m so thrilled to share with you all today my recent Farm Party project that I created in partnership with Schleich®. Springtime is such a perfect time of year to host a farm themed birthday party or play date for your kids. In this post I’ll be sharing a bunch of fun, simple farm party ideas and inspiration—foods, easy activities, and graphic designed printables (some free ones, too, so be sure to fill out the form at the bottom of this post)—so you can re-create this celebration at home in no time.

Schleichhas such an amazing collection of farm figurines that are a part of their Farm World Collection. I am so impressed with their quality and durability. My boys love playing with them and they really do foster imaginative play! My little guys make up such fun and creative adventures for their animals. It’s been really sweet to watch! Diy Farm Animal Birthday Party Ideas

As you all probably can expect from me by now, the first thing I usually start with when planning a party is the invitation. I find that it really sets the tone for the entire look and feel that I’m trying to achieve with any given celebration. This farm party was no different. I first designed the invitation and illustrated the sweet, whimsical farm animals. I loved the little personalities that they took on and they really inspired the tone for the rest of the party. After the invitation was complete, I then started on the welcome sign, bottle labels, food signs, tractor favor and other decor signs. Another key focal point of the party was the barn backdrop. Backdrops don’t always have to be expensive or intricate to create a big impact. I created the barn for only a few dollars using 2 sheets of red poster board, one sheet of white poster board and one roll of bulletin board trim (for the roof). I cut the white poster board into strips for the barn door details and trim. Then I taped it onto the red poster board and added thebulletin board trim to the top for the roof. Once I had the roof in place, I trimmed off the remainder of the red poster board (a small triangle on the left and right) that was peeking up from behind the roof. Done! A very simple and super cute DIY that would make even Old McDonald proud!

I tried to keep the food at our farm party simple and kid-friendly while also fun and theme-specific. I also tried to include a few healthier options to balance some of the sweeter treats. I am a huge fan of taking somewhat ordinary foods and giving them creative names. I think this really adds a very memorable touch to any party. Our menu included: The Pig Sty: chocolate pudding cups, The Chicken Coop: deviled eggs, Hay Bales: Rice Krispies Treats, adorable lamb cupcakes, fresh vegetables from The Veggie Garden, applesauce pouches fresh from The Apple Orchard, U-Pick Produce cookies, Bags of Wool marshmallows, and popcorn. Even our little Schleich Rooster got in on the fun at The Chicken Coop and our Schleich Pig was right at home in The Pig Sty.

As I mentioned before, almost all of the foods were straight out-of-the-package with very minimal preparation and assembly. The lamb cupcakes were quite simple too, but they did take the most time to assemble. To make the lamb cupcakes, start with a plain cupcake frosted in white buttercream (store-bought is totally fine). Try to smooth the white frosting as much as possible. To create the ears, take one mini marshmallow per cupcake and cut it in half, diagonally. Dip the sticky, cut side into a small dish of pink sugar. Then set both ears aside until you are ready to add them to your cupcake. Next, line the outer edge of your cupcake with regular mini marshmallows (leaving room for one ear on each side). After lining the edge, make a second row on the upper portion of the cupcake of 4 more mini marshmallows. Then, add the ears in place. Now it’s time to create the face! To create the eyes and mouth I piped a small amount of melted chocolate onto parchment paper in the shape of the eyes and mouth. Then, once dried and hardened, I simply placed it onto the cupcakes. You could easily skip this step and pipe the eyes and mouth directly onto the cupcakes too. I just found that it was easier for me to use the parchment paper. The final step is then just adding the nose. I used a pinknonpareil mint for the nose but any small pink candy would work well (M&M, cut Starburst candy, jelly bean, etc). I just love how these lamb cupcakes turned out. I think they are so sweet!

Nico's Fun Barnyard Party

The highlight of our farm party was definitely the adoption of the farm animals. The Schleich figurines worked so well for our tabletop farm. The boys got so into it. They had a blast! The Schleich animals that we included in our farm were a: cow, pig, rooster, calf, lamb, rabbit, rabbit hutch, Holsteiner mare, and Shiba Inu mother and puppy. To make the adoption of the animals more official I designed adoption certificates too. This was such a playful and sweet activity. My little guys had a hard time choosing, but they both ultimately selected the rabbits and baby bunnies to adopt. They totally fell in love with them, as well as the rabbit hutch. With Easter right around the corner, if you’re looking for an adorable addition to any Easter basket, these bunnies and rabbit hutch would be perfect! Every pet needs a home! After the boys adopted their new rabbit friends, they worked to decorate gingerbread homes for their bunnies! They really loved this activity…and of course, sampling a lot of the “building materials” too!

As the sun sets on our farm and the party comes to an end, all our party guests will go home with their Schleich animal figurine, adoption certificate and gingerbread home. I also designed fun tractor favors with chocolate donut tires. Similar to the assembly of my monster truck valentine, these bag toppers are very simple to put together. Just add two chocolate donuts and staple the printable in place! (

Also, I couldn’t resist making some play-dough carrots. I have been a big fan of this flour and salt play-dough recipe for years. It’s easy to mix up and includes ingredients you probably already have in your pantry. After I made the play-dough, I just divided it up and put it in triangle snack bagsand added green ribbons at the top for leaves. Another memorable and unique favor for your guests!
